About me...
Lakeland Craft House is a small, part-time passion project run by me, Andrew, created in the gaps between my everyday life, volunteering, and a deep love for animals. As a volunteer with the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward, I works alongside staff and fellow volunteers supporting animals who’ve had a rough start and need a second chance. That experience sits at the very heart of Lakeland Craft House.
Many of the designs are inspired by the animals I have met through the Humane Society, especially Felix, my own cat, who was rescued by the Society and now runs the household with big attitude, a healthy dose of independence, and a whole heap of head bumps and feline kisses. Felix, along with the dogs, cats, and small animals I've encountered through volunteering, has shaped the tone of my work: playful, empathetic, sometimes a little silly, but always rooted in care.
Compassion is the reason Lakeland Craft House exists. It was set up as a way to turn creativity into something practical, using humour, art, and handmade items to raise funds and awareness for animals who rely entirely on human kindness. Every item is made with the belief that small acts matter: a smile matters, a purchase matters, and choosing kindness, especially when it’s easy not to, matters.
Lakeland Craft House aims to show that creativity can do more than decorate a space or raise a laugh. It can help feed an animal, fund medical care, support adoptions, and remind us that empathy doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. In short: this is a creative endeavour built on compassion, inspired by animals, and powered by the idea that doing something, often and with care, adds up to something meaningful.
With gratitude,
Andrew
